Because healing is more than what we eat, it’s who we become.

Introduction

Healing is often talked about in terms of food, supplements, routines, and protocols. Those things matter. But they are not the whole story.

Chronic illness affects more than the body. It affects confidence, identity, hope, and faith. It changes how we see ourselves and how we relate to God.

For many of us, the hardest part of healing isn’t what we eat, it’s learning how to keep trusting when our bodies don’t cooperate. It’s learning how to stay hopeful when progress feels slow. It’s learning how to feel safe in a body that has scared us.

That is why these devotionals exist.

Daily Bread is a space to check in with your spirit — not just your symptoms. It is a place to remind yourself that God is near, that you are not alone in what you’re walking through, and that healing is not something you have to force.

This Week’s Focus: Walking in Obedience

This week, we are focusing on obedience, not as blind following, but as trust in motion. It’s choosing to move even when the path ahead isn’t fully clear.

You don’t have to see the whole plan to take the next step. You don’t need to understand everything God is doing to follow what He’s asking.

God isn’t calling you to figure everything out He’s calling you to follow Him.

As we walk through this week’s Scriptures, I encourage you to listen for His voice in the small things, take the step in front of you, and believe that obedience always leads to blessing even if it first leads you out of your comfort zone.

Today's Scripture

1 Kings 17:8-16

“The word of the Lord came to him, Arise, 'Go at once to Zarephath, which belongs to Sidon, and dwell there. Behold I have commanded a widow there to feed you. So he arose and went to Zarepath. And when he came to the gate of the city, behold, a widow was there gathering sticks. And he called to her and said "Bring me a little water in a vessel that I may drink. And as she was going to bring it, he called to her and said, As the Lord your God lives, I have nothing baked, only a handful of flour in a jar and a little oil in a jug. And now I am gathering a couple of sticks that I may go in and prepare it or myself and my son, that we may eat itand die." And Elijah said to her, "Do not fear go and do as you have said. But first make me a cake of it and brung it to me and afterward make something for yourself and your son. For thus says the Lord, the God of Isreal, "The jar of flour shall not be spent and the jug of oil shall not be empty until the day that the Lord sends rain upon the Earth. And she went and did as Elijah said. And she and he and her household ate for many days. Their jar of flour was not spent, neither did the jug of oil become empty, according to the word fo the Lord that he spoke by Elijah. "

Luke 16:10:

“One who is faithful in a very little is also faithful in much, and one who is dishonest in a very little is also dishonest in much."

Reflection

We want to obey God in the big things. The callings, the dreams, the moments that feel significant. However, God often tests our obedience in the quiet everyday things first.

The widow in Zarephath didn't see herself as someone God would use. She had almost nothing left. Just a little flour, a little oil, and one last meal before she had planned to die.

But when Elijah asked her to give, she obeyed. That simple act of obedience unlocked a miracle.

God isn't looking for perfect conditions. He's looking for willing hearts.

Sometimes the step He's asking for doesn't make logical sense. It might seem to small to matter, to costly to give, or too insignificant to change anything.

But obedience in the small things trains your heart for the big ones.

Because when you move in faith, even a small step shakes heaven.

Never underestimate what God can do with the little you're willing to give.
